Identifying Basic Parts of a Plant

Class Description: This class activity is designed to teach simple identification of the basic parts of a plant by comparing similar composition of different plants. The class will be introduced to the five environmental factors required for plant growth. A community field trip to a local garden center is also planned which will provide an opportunity for students to discover plant diversity

Identifying Local Trees

This class is designed to teach participants how to identify and compare leaf characteristics as a tool for plant identification. Participants will have an opportunity to see and identify popular local tree species including vein patterns, leaf arrangements, leaf shapes and leaf edges. A community field trip to a local garden center is also planned.
